Programs

Ten programs, one goal: nobody left offline

Digital exclusion in Somalia isn't one problem — it's literacy, affordability, access, safety, and awareness, each affecting different people differently. Our programs are built around that.

Access

Equal access & the digital divide

Advocacy and direct action to close the gap between Somalis who are online and those who are not — regardless of location, income, gender, age, or ability.

Disability

Digital inclusion for people with disabilities

Helping people with disabilities access devices, assistive tools, and training suited to their needs, so digital services are usable by everyone.

Elders

Digital skills for elders

Patient, practical training for older Somalis — using a phone, mobile money, calling family, and staying safe online — so age isn't a barrier to staying connected.

Affordability

Affordability & device access

Raising funds and in-kind support to help low-income households get phones, and pressing telecom and broadband operators for lower prices and special low-income tariffs.

Women

Women's digital inclusion

Targeted outreach and training so women — often the least connected in their households — gain the skills and confidence to use digital tools and services.

Literacy

School-age digital literacy

Year-round digital literacy programs for students — basic device use, safe internet habits, and the skills schools don't always have the resources to teach.

Business

Digitizing small businesses

Helping non-digital businesses adopt digital media, mobile payments, and POS systems, so they aren't left behind as commerce moves online.

Advocacy

Connectivity advocacy

Engaging telecom and broadband operators to extend coverage into unconnected and untapped areas, and to expand affordable, reliable service nationwide.

Outreach

Community awareness visits

Visiting communities with no network or no digital habits, explaining what connectivity and digital skills could open up for them, and helping build local demand for coverage.

Safety

Internet safety & fraud awareness

Public awareness on scams, financial fraud, hacking, phishing, and online bullying — so people can use the internet with confidence, not fear.

Rhythm of our work

What happens when

Once a year

Digital Inclusion Event

An annual gathering bringing together communities, operators, and supporters to spotlight the state of digital inclusion in Somalia and showcase the year's progress.

All year

Literacy programs

Ongoing digital literacy training for students, women, elders, and unconnected communities — running continuously, not just around a single event.

Ongoing

Affordability support

Continuous fundraising and in-kind support to help low-income households access phones and data, alongside advocacy for lower tariffs.

Ongoing

Outreach & advocacy

Regular visits to unconnected and unaware communities, and continuous engagement with telecom and broadband operators on coverage and pricing.

Delivery model

Built to be delivered, tracked, and reported

Each program has clear activities and a defined cadence, so progress can be tracked and reported on transparently to anyone supporting the work.
